Guess The Capital
Guess The Capital is a free daily geography puzzle. Every day there's one capital city to find, everyone in the world gets the same one, and you have six guesses to get there.
How it works
Type any capital city and submit it. After each guess you get two clues: how far away today's answer is, and a compass arrow pointing from your guess towards it. Use them to narrow the globe down guess by guess. Distances are great-circle, and you can switch between kilometres and miles.
If you know the country but not its capital, the country search will surface it for you. When the round ends the answer is revealed along with its population and a spin of the globe to show you where it sits.
Which cities count
The answer is always the capital of a sovereign country, so there are roughly 200 possible answers. Countries with more than one official capital — South Africa, Bolivia and a few others — accept any of them. Well-known cities that aren't national capitals, such as Edinburgh, Cardiff or Hong Kong, can be guessed and will give you distance and direction clues, but they'll never be the answer.
Populations are approximate and based on the most recent estimates available. If you spot one that's badly out of date, let us know.

Guess The Capital is built and run by one person in Brighton, England, as an independent side project. It has no company behind it and no app to install — it's a single web page that works in any modern browser, on your phone or desktop.
